Human Ethics
Human ethics approval is required for all research conducted with or about people, or their data or tissue. The purpose of ethics review is to facilitate research that fulfils the principles of human research ethics – research merit and integrity, justice, beneficence and respect.
How to apply
Please visit the Apply for Ethics Approval page for a step by step guide on the application process. You can also access the training session video and learning support materials.
More information about Human Ethics, the application and assessment process and FAQs can be found on the Human Ethics page.
Management of approved projects
Staff who are named as lead applicants (responsible researchers - including GR Supervisors) are responsible for ensuring that research conducted in the project conforms with the approved application and any conditions. This includes adherence to reporting, research data management and storage, protection of privacy and other requirements.
The Research Gateway provides clear instructions on the management of approved projects. Applicants should also ensure they are clear on their responsibilities as outlined in the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research, and the University's Research Integrity and Misconduct Policy (MPF1318)
