Get ready for multifactor authentication (MFA)
Multifactor authentication (MFA) will soon be introduced to all University of Melbourne staff and students in a phased manner. MFA is a response to the significant increase in cyber attacks on IT systems globally and will act as a second factor of verification when logging into key University applications.

This will help prevent account compromises and potential data loss or identity theft. You may be familiar with MFA from your personal online banking experience.
In December 2019, three applications were successfully migrated to the new Single Sign-On solution (new login screen) and deployed with MFA. We are now preparing for the migration of the next group of staff-facing applications to commence 3 March 2020.
To be ready for MFA, we recommend you visit https://sso.unimelb.edu.au/ on your computer's web browser and log in to pre-enrol your mobile device. Detailed instructions are available on Knowledge Base article KB0021449.
For more information about MFA and the deployment approach, please visit the Multifactor Authentication page on staff.unimelb.edu.au/cybersecurity.
