Faculty Trust Fellowships

Find out about prestigious fellowships for early to mid career health and medical researchers

As a result of generous donations and bequests, the Faculty administers trust funding earmarked to support health and medical research. In conjunction with the Faculty Trusts team, the Faculty’s Research Development unit coordinates a range of Faculty Trust Fellowships.

It is anticipated that applications for fellowship positions commencing in 2021 will open mid 2020.

Click on the hyperlinks below to be redirected to specific pages for each scheme, which contain further information including steps on how to apply, respective position descriptions and details from previous application rounds.

Whether a scheme will open – and the number of positions advertised for that scheme – will vary each year depending upon the trust funding available.

All Faculty Trust Fellows submit short reports on the progress of their research, submitted through SmartyGrants. A copy of the report template, including the Certification page can be found here.

Successful recipients of these fellowships are eligible to receive $10,000 per year (pro rata) of Grant-In-Aid funding, which is supplementary to the fellow's salary, to support legitimate research expenses including consumables, travel and publication costs. A policy document with further information on what can and cannot be purchased through Grant-In-Aid funding is available here.

All trust fellows must submit short reports on the progress of their research, which will be reviewed by the Faculty, as per the position descriptions for each fellowship. The Research Development team will issue reporting templates to current fellows and monitor report submissions, however it is ultimately the fellow's responsibility to ensure the timely submission of reports.

In addition to the above fellowships, the Faculty also manages other sources of trust funding from time to time, which can range from fellowships to project based opportunities across different fields of research. These trust funded opportunities have their own specific conditions and eligibility requirements and will be advertised through the Focus on Funding email bulletin.
