Search for an animal ethics AEC or BAW report

Use the animal ethics annual report workbench to find AEC reports and animal use returns

The animal ethics annual report workbench in Themis will display all Animal Ethics Committee (AEC) reports due as well as any animal use returns due for the current reporting period. If you need to retrieve a completed report or return you can use the search function.

To search for a report:

Log in to Themis using your UOM research self service responsibility.
Select the ‘animal ethics annual report workbench’ function listed under the ethics section. The AE annual report workbench will display, showing all reports and returns requiring completion.
Click ‘search AE annual reports’. The search AE annual reports screen will display. This screen is divided into two sections: ‘search AEC annual report’ and ‘search animal use return’.
Enter your AEC annual reports criteria in the search fields located in the AEC annual report section.
Click search. All AEC annual reports matching your search criteria will display in the results table. You may view individual report details or export the results table to view and manipulate in Excel.
Click ‘view report’ to display the report details.
Enter your animal use returns criteria in the search fields located in the animal use return section. The table below outlines the more common search criteria used, however you may enter information in any of the fields displayed.
Click ‘search’. All animal use returns matching your search criteria will display in the results table. You may export the search results table to view and manipulate in Excel.

Export search results

You may export the results of your search for AEC annual reports or animal use returns to and Excel spreadsheet to view and manipulate.

To export results:

Perform your search as above.
Tick the ‘select’ check-box for the records you wish to export.
Click ‘export data to Excel’. A file open message will display asking if you want to open or save the file.
Select open or save, as required and click ‘OK’. If you select ‘open’, the file will open as a tab-delimited file. If you select ‘save’, you should open the file with Excel.

AEC annual reports details

Field	Action	Comment
Reporting year	Click on the drop-down list and select the year for which you wish to retrieve reports.
AE application number	Enter the Themis ID number of the animal ethics application for which you wish to view reports.	This number will display in the email notification sent.
AEC annual report status	Click on the drop-down list and select the status of reports you wish to view.	All reports in a status of 'not reported' or 'in progress' will display on the AE annual report workbench.
Primary contact	Enter the name of the primary contact or click on the search icon and use the Search and select screen to retrieve the contact.

Animal use returns details

Field	Action	Comment
Reporting year	Click on the drop-down list and select the year for which you wish to retrieve the animal use returns.
AE application number	Enter the Themis ID number of the animal ethics application for which you wish to view the returns.	This number will display in the email notification sent.
Animal use return status	Click on the drop-down list and select the status of returns you wish to view.	All returns in a status of requested will display on the AE annual report workbench.
Primary contact	Enter the name of the primary contact or click on the search icon and use the search and select screen to retrieve the contact.
