Know when to complete the location of your research

You must complete the location of research if you indicate in the research checklist that your project will include:

  • locations other than University of Melbourne
  • approvals (non ethics) needed from external organisations
  • already has or requires other ethics approvals
  • involves personal information obtained from government department or NGO
  • data collected previously for another purpose
  • health data, or personal or sensitive information
  • multiple ethical review of research
  • likely participants of social groups with special needs
  • likely ATSI participants

Where you are undertaking research at locations additional to or other than the University of Melbourne, you may require additional approvals or ethics clearances.
