Create a human ethics application overview

Understand the steps to create a human ethics application, regardless of the type of application

This is a summary of the steps to creating a human ethics application in Themis.

To create an application:

  1. Log on to Themis. Navigate to the ‘human ethics workbench’.
  2. Click ‘create’.
  3. Choose the project type. You can select multiple options. Some project types require additional information. You will be prompted to add this information.
  4. Complete the research checklist. The information entered in the checklist determines the:
    • application types available
    • additional questions to be completed online
    • additional modules to be completed offline and attached to the application
  5. Choose the application type. Some application types require additional information. You will be prompted to add this information.
  6. Enter project details, including:
    • responsible HEAG
    • title and brief description of project
    • start and end dates
    • expected start date of data collection.
  7. Enter the participating researchers. Include the role they will take in research, their contact information, qualification and relevant training details.
  8. Complete and attach required documents. The ‘additional documentation required’ screen will display any forms you must complete prior to submission.
  9. Complete any additional questions. The requirement for this will be based on your earlier selections.
  10. Review your application. Correct any validation errors. The review screen will identify any validation errors or omissions, which you must correct before submission.
  11. Submit your application.
