Use Themis to create and view human ethics applications

You can view all human ethics applications you have created in the Human Ethics homepage (research work list) screen in Themis. You can also view applications where you have been nominated as a researcher, and access your application records to view a summary or modify and update the details.

To access the human ethics homepage:

  1. Log on to Themis using your UOM research self service responsibility.
  2. Select the ‘human ethics workbench’ function, listed under the ‘ethics’ section. The ‘human ethics home page’ will display.

Items requiring action

The ‘human ethics home page’ will detail your items requiring action, including:

  • revisions required – when a human ethics administrator requires revisions to an ethics application, the status of the application becomes ‘revisions required’. The responsible researcher or the creator of the application will be able to make the revisions requested. Other named researchers can only view the application.
  • draft items not yet submitted – this section displays any human ethics application that has been saved as a draft but not submitted. The responsible researcher or the creator of the application will be able to update and complete the application. Other named researchers can only view the application.
  • annual reports due – this section displays any human ethics applications that have been submitted and approved or ratified by the human ethics sub-committee (HESC). These have reporting obligations. Applications in this section have a report due. All named researchers are able to access the annual report and submit it.
