End of trip facilities at Melbourne Connect

Melbourne Connect will offer end of trip (EOT) facilities for FEIT staff.

Melbourne Connect will offer end of trip (EOT) facilities for FEIT staff. Bicycle parking and EOT for use by staff of the facility will be provided on the basement mezzanine level with the entry point located off Hospital Lane. The primary access for cyclists will be via a ramp from ground floor. A security control point will be located at the entry prior to entering the building, with a ramp, stairs and lifts will provide connections between the bicycle parking area, EOT, and ground floor.

End of trip facilities will include showers and bathrooms, allocated personal lockers and allocated secure bike parking. Bathroom and locker facilities are located in separate male and female areas.

The bike parking has been designed in accordance with the Australian Standards for Bicycle Parking (AS2890.3-15), specifically including:

  • ramps that have been designed to ensure path widths and grades have been achieved as detailed in the Australian Standards.
  • minimum headroom clearance of 2.2m along ramp lengths and at entrances.
  • bike parking will facilitate the following
    • height and physical abilities of a range of users
    • capable of supporting any type of bike, including increased width and length
    • a range of locking mechanisms
  • clear sight lines along the ramp in either direction

EOT Allocations

Facilities are allocated to precinct tenancies proportionally, based on the tenancy size. FEIT will  be  allocated  70%  of  the  University’s bicycle racks and lockers within the EOT facilities, which equals 136 bike racks and 163 lockers.

Subject to demand, additional allocations may be available to FEIT within the precinct EOT facility. In addition, there are 90 visitor bike parking spaces available along the Swanston, Grattan and Cardigan Street frontages.
