Melbourne Connect is a collaborative, multi-purpose precinct in Swanston Street, Melbourne.
Telstra Creator Space
The University of Melbourne’s new Creator Space is a 1,138m2 onsite fabrication laboratory designed to support open innovation and prototyping.
FEIT Cultural Collection
The FEIT Cultural Collection stretches back to the commencement of the teaching of engineering at the University.
The Melbourne Entrepreneurial Centre (MEC)
MEC will be located in a tower neighbouring FEIT at Melbourne Connect.
End of trip facilities
Melbourne Connect will offer end of trip (EOT) facilities for FEIT staff.

The Superfloor
The Superfloor is a vibrant space offering a range of services including meeting and event spaces catering for formal meetings, informal catch ups, workshops, exhibitions, launches and events, and a café.

Level 7 social hub and Office of the Dean
Melbourne Connect will provide FEIT staff with an open and engaging working environment. Integral to this is Level 7, which hosts the Social Hub and the Office of the Dean.
Active hubs
Located on Levels 1 – 6, Active Hubs offer a range of spaces to support both formal and informal collaboration. Connected by internal stairs and easily accessible from the workspace, Active Hubs provide a central meeting point for FEIT staff.
The design story
The design of the FEIT work space and Creator Space within Melbourne Connect was a lengthy and thorough process, commencing in early 2017.
The history of the site
Melbourne Connect is being built on the site of the former Royal Women’s Hospital, which carries a lot of history as the welcoming point for many a Melburnian.
The naming of the laneways
The University of Melbourne has worked closely with the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Cultural Heritage Aboriginal Corporation and Wurundjeri Elders to allocate indigenous names to Melbourne Connect public spaces.
The facade
The challenge for the main facade was creating a visual that embodied the University of Melbourne - to be world class in innovation, research and sustainability and provide an appropriate aesthetic for the precinct.
Block and stack
The block and stack is one of many interdependent activities required to successfully relocate 800+ staff and students to Melbourne Connect. The block and stack process is the allocation of teams to floors (stack) and then to specific locations on the floor (block).
