International off-campus activities
How to apply for approval to take a subject with international travel.
Within ABP, coursework subjects with international travel come under the following categories:
Travelling Studios - multidisciplinary, involve extended collaboration (3-5 years) with partner institutions and, align with the ABP Strategic Plan and ABP International Partnerships Strategy.
Subjects with regular international travel – travel aligns with the ABP Strategic Plan and ABP International Partnerships Strategy. Approval is required every time international takes place.
Subjects (or studios) with international travel - Subjects (or studios) with international travel align with the ABP Strategic Plan.

How to apply
Applications for international travel approval involve two stages:
1. Preliminary Application
Complete the appropriate preliminary application (see below) and email the form, plus attachments to ABP-fieldtrips@unimelb.edu.au
- Preliminary application - Travelling Studio
- Preliminary application - Subject with regular international travel
- Preliminary application - Subject (or studio) with international travel
2. Final Application
If preliminary approval is obtained, successful applications will be considered for final approval, at least 12 weeks prior to the commencement of teaching. Final approval will require completion of a risk assessment (in collaboration with the ABP Health and Safety Consultant), a Field Work Plan, including evidence of completion of First-Aid training PLUS written endorsement from the ABP Health and Safety Consultant (with or without further requirements).
Details and dates relating to the final approval with be emailed to successful applicants as part of the preliminary application outcome.
